about
“Art is either plagiarism or revolution.” – Paul Gauguin
I shoot weddings and portraits (bridal, engagement, family, children, boudoir, pets, etc.). I am appalled at the state of photography pricing, wedding and bridal in particular, and keep my fee under $2000 regardless of the size of your wedding party, family, or budget; although I am open to working with you if your budget is even smaller than that. Everyone deserves beautiful, creative photographs so I am also open to trade and barter. All photos receive minor touch-ups if necessary.
I began in 2001 with darkrooms and black and white film, moved to medium format film, and finally to digital. On a side note, I hold a BA in Liberal Arts from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA and an MBA in Decision and Information Sciences from the University of Houston in Houston, TX, the pursuit of which led me to India for a few weeks; what a beautiful, hospitable country. I also ventured into the oil and gas world of Houston long enough to realize I wanted little if nothing to do with that antiquated good ole boy system.
Anyone can take pictures while very few can create a photograph; creating a photograph is an involved process and an art. My people skills include boudoir portraits, implied nudes, unique portraits, and lifestyle portraits, which are more photo journalistic and candid. If you are looking for stiff posed portraits in front of a generic backdrop, please go elsewhere. Mine are done on location – at your home, in a park, your favorite restaurant, or anywhere else you like. While I do have my own style, I am not opposed to recreating something you’ve seen elsewhere. If you have a photographic need, I am here to fill it; let’s discuss over coffee and dessert.
Other than people, I also photograph architecture (preferably at night), produce polyptychs, am currently exploring minimalist abstract photography, and am always rekindling my love affair with medium format film. All things printed are done so on Hahnemühle paper; it is the best and has been for several hundred years.
